September 2026 Update

Thank you for your continued interest in the 320 Alex Doner Site Enhancements project, as well as the feedback provided through conversations, emails, and the previously held PIC. The design has evolved to incorporate feedback while maintaining a design that will provide the necessary stormwater management and operational improvements, and provide opportunities for passive recreation and enjoyment of the site.

Key design elements include:

• improved stormwater quality by increasing retention time in the ponds and increasing pond circulation
• introduction of a wetland feature to provide additional ecological and stormwater benefits
• introduction of 1km of asphalt trail
• introduction of a boardwalk lookout over the wetland feature
• seating areas
• improved tree canopy with retention of as many existing trees as possible

Progress on the project continues. This week the tender to hire a contractor to complete the construction works has been opened with a closing date planned for early October. Following the award period and the selection of the Contractor, the construction schedule will be confirmed and an update will be provided here on the Hey Newmarket page, as well as through notices delivered to nearby residents.

The proposed schedule following tender close and subject to confirmation by the Contractor and weather:

• Tender award: Late October
• Project kick-off: Late October
• Notices to residents with confirmed schedule: Late October
• Beginning of site works: Early November
• Completion of site works: Fall 2027
