Community Update: April 7, 2026

We have a few updates to share with the community regarding the Environmental Park Boardwalk and parking.

Environmental Park Boardwalk

  • The Environmental Park Boardwalk is set to open on Friday, April 10 in the afternoon. This opening will not be promoted by the Town of Newmarket.v
  • Like last season, signage will be installed to direct trail users to enter the boardwalk from Environmental Park on Woodspring Avenue.
  • The Town will be placing additional garbage bins to reduce litter, as well as portable toilets for public use.
  • The Town will continue to monitor boardwalk usage and deploy Trail Ambassadors, as needed, to encourage safety and etiquette and to help ensure everyone has a positive park and trail experience.

Parking

  • A parking permit pilot program along Clifford Perry Place, east of Elvidge Trail, will begin on April 7 with warnings and will be subject to enforcement (fines) as of Friday, April 10, coinciding with the opening of the boardwalk.
  • Parking permit signage has been installed to indicate that parking is by permit only on applicable streets.
  • Permits for eligible households have been provided.
  • The overflow parking agreement with Alexander Muir Public School will begin on April 11 which will allow members of the public to park at the school parking lot on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays.
