The Town of Newmarket will be making improvements to the Fairy Lake Bridge along the Tom Taylor Trail November 2 to 6, 2026.
A portion of the Tom Taylor Trail near the boardwalk area will be temporarily closed while the Town of Newmarket completes scheduled maintenance on the pedestrian bridge to allow work to be completed safely.
Construction timeline
- November 2 to 6, 2026 (weather dependent)
Scope of work
- The work will include the replacement of the bridge’s steel stringers to help maintain the bridge and extend its service life.
Closures and disruptions
- During the duration of the construction, the bridge will be closed to all trail users to allow the work to be completed safely.
- Detour signs will be in place to direct trail users to their destination.
- Some noise from the construction work.
- A few parking spots in the Fairy Lake Parking lot closest to the bridge will be used by the contractor to store equipment and staging (see map for details)
- Reminder: Cyclists entering the trail from the Municipal Offices should only do so on the west side. Please avoid riding along the boardwalk.
We thank all trail users for the patience during this work to improve this bridge for everyone.
