Susan Chase - Bio
Susan Chase, Director, Innovation & Strategic Initiatives. Town of Newmarket
Currently assigned the new portfolio of Innovation & Strategic Initiatives, Susan is responsible for identifying and leading innovative projects that encourage the transformation of service delivery through digital change, openness, inclusivity and enhanced engagement. Working closely with community leaders, external partners and Town staff, Susan facilitates discussions around creative solutions that will lead to more efficient service delivery as well as opportunities for economic and social change in the community through smart city initiatives. Formerly the Director of IT, Susan was responsible for leading the IT Department and providing technical solutions to business challenges. Susan has a Masters of Public Administration degree from Western University as well as Project Management Certification from the Schulich School of Business and an undergrad education in IT including programming, analysis and network operations.
Jim Gragtmans - Bio
Jim Gragtmans, General Manager ENVI Network
He is an entrepreneur with 35 years of experience in start-ups, fast pace growth companies and large enterprise organizations. Focused primarily in the technology sector, he has spent many years helping companies integrate new technologies into their businesses to maximize their innovation growth strategies. He has owned and grown companies in several industries including technology integration, bio-fuels, software and consulting.
Jim has been actively involved with his community for over 14 years. He is a Past Chair of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce and is the current Chair of the Newmarket Economic Development Advisory Committee. He is a co-founder of the Newmarket Smart City Council (formerly Community Collaboration Ecosystem), an innovation focused group of community partners assisting Newmarket in their journey to becoming an Intelligent Community.
Jim assisted the Town in establishing their Gigabit Broadband strategy resulting in the Business Case for Envi Network Ltd. and now is in the process of building that network as the General Manager.
