Town of Newmarket will be undertaking important watermain lining and road improvement work on Bristol Road between Chester Avenue and Main Street North. See map below for details. Construction is anticipated to start in August 2025 and is expected to be completed by October 2025, weather permitting.

This project is part of our ongoing effort to maintain reliable water service and to enhance the overall condition and safety of our roads. See map below for details.

The work will includes:

  • Lining of the existing buried watermain
  • Installing a temporary above-ground watermain to maintain service during construction.

Once the underground work is complete, the project will move forward with resurfacing the road and carrying out minor curb and sidewalk replacements where necessary.

Residents will receive advance notice of any planned water service shut-offs or temporary driveway access restrictions due to curb or sidewalk work.

After the temporary water main is installed, your water meter will be by-passed. As a result, your water bill from NT Power will be charged at a flat rate based on your historical water consumption. The Town will provide advance notice of when this will occur.

During construction, residents may experience occasional noise, dust, and vibration. Every effort will be made to minimize these disruptions, and emergency vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

A request will also be made to the Town’s By-law Enforcement office to provide special consideration for vehicles parked on adjacent streets during the day or overnight when driveway access may be temporarily restricted.

Bristol Road project is scheduled to resume on the week of May 19, 2026. The Contractor, North Rock Group Ltd, will be returning to complete remaining works including final concrete works, asphalt paving, line painting and boulevard restorations, with on-site inspection provided by Ainley & Associates Limited.
