Newmarket-Tay Power (NT Power) will undertake the second phase of electrical improvements along Cedar Street. The work will focus on removing the wooden poles with lights on Cedar Street and installing heritage lights along the street.
Doing so will help decrease power outages caused by inclement weather such as ice storms, freezing rain, and snow events while continuing to revitalize Newmarket’s award-winning Main Street. The installation of heritage lights will occur between late March 31 2025 to April 4, 2025. No power outages are expected during the work.
You may recall that the first phase of the work took place in January 2024 and involved converting all the overhead wires on Cedar Street to underground.
This work is important and will help decrease power outages caused by inclement weather such as ice storms, freezing rain, and snow events while continuing to revitalize Newmarket’s award-winning Main Street.
The Town of Newmarket and NT Power are working together to ensure minimal disruption to businesses, residents, and visitors to downtown Newmarket.
