Hillview Drive Reconstruction Project

The Town of Newmarket is pleased to advise you that reconstruction of Hillview Drive including the addition of sidewalk on the south side of Penn Avenue from Hillview Drive to Denne Boulevard will begin the week of June 9, 2025. The underground work, including base asphalt is planned to be completed by the end of this year with final asphalt paving and restoration completed by Summer 2026.

What to Expect this Year

• Sanitary sewer replacement and lining
• Watermain replacement and lining
• Selective tree removals
• New curbs and sidewalk
• Base asphalt

Construction Impacts

• Typical work hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
• Occasional weekend and/or nightwork may be required
• Typical construction noise and dust
• Emergency Services will always have access
• Modified garbage collection (further notice to be provided)
• Water and driveway disruptions during construction
• Advance notice will be provided for any significant access changes or restrictions.

Project Benefits

This project will renew the underground infrastructure by replacing aging watermains and sanitary sewers, improving service reliability and reducing the risk of future disruptions. Road reconstruction and paving will enhance driving conditions, and the new sidewalk will improve pedestrian safety and accessibility. These upgrades support a more connected, resilient, and accessible community.

The Town of Newmarket is making improvements on Hillview Drive and would like to invite you to an upcoming public meeting to learn more and provide your feedback onThursday, March 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Maple Leaf Public School.

The work includes:

• Upgrading underground infrastructure: Replacement and repairs to the watermain and sanitary sewer on Hillview Drive.
• Road safety improvements: Hillview Drive will be slightly narrowed
• New Sidewalks for better accessibility and pedestrian safety:
  • A new sidewalk will be added on the east side of Hillview Drive between
    Ameila Street and Penn Avenue.
  • A new sidewalk will also be constructed on the south side of Penn Avenue between Hillview Drive and Denne Boulevard.

The work is expected to start in July 2025, with most construction planned to be completed by December 2025 weather permitting. Final asphalt paving and restorations will be completed in Summer 2026.

The Town of Newmarket is asking residents to get involved and participate in a Public Consultation Centre (PIC) to learn more about the Hillview Drive project
