Lorne Avenue - Construction Corner Update - Week of December 19, 2022

As a resident of Lorne Avenue, you have been receiving regular notices from the Town of Newmarket regarding the reconstruction project in your area. Thank you for your continued patience and support on this project.

The Town’s contractor has completed most of the restoration work within the boulevards, including sidewalks and topsoil placement. The project will shut down for the winter months, and resume with Phase 3, including elevated coloured concrete intersections, final surface asphalt, permanent pavement markings and final restoration in spring of 2023.

Work completed over the last two weeks:

• Remaining driveway and walkway restorations were completed;

• Topsoil and sod were completed to the extent possible;

• Installation of new signage; and

• Temporary pavement markings.

Work anticipated over the next few months:

• Minor cleanup work and addressing of deficiencies where possible.

Detour routes for vehicular traffic ended November 30. Local access for residents, pedestrians and emergency vehicles has been maintained throughout the project. Please use caution and drive slowly through the site, be mindful of pedestrians and children trying to navigate their way safely through the site. The detour using Main Street is no longer in use.

Information on this project is being communicated through this Construction Corner, heynewmarket.ca/lorne and by your Construction Liaison Committee representatives.

The Town values your feedback on these updates, and appreciates your continued patience while we proceed with this reconstruction project. Please contact us at 905-895-5193 to provide your thoughts.
