Lorne Avenue - Construction Corner Update - Week of November 7, 2022

As a resident of Lorne Avenue, you have been receiving regular notices from the Town regarding the reconstruction project in your area. Thank you for your continued patience and support with the project.

The contractor and sub-contractors continue with road reconstruction between Timothy Street and Davis Drive, and restoration of the right-of-way throughout the project. Currently, the focus is on getting all curbs and sidewalks completed, followed by installation of asphalt on the road. In parallel, restoration works within the boulevard continues.

Over the past two weeks:

• Curb installation has continued, with most curbs now installed;

• Sidewalk installation has continued;

• Fine grading and compaction of the road base has continued; and

• Restoration works, including retaining walls, driveway restoration and boulevard re-grading continue.

Over the next two weeks:

• Remaining curbs will be completed throughout the project area;

• Both sides of the sidewalk north of Millard Avenue will be poured;

• Fine grading and compaction of the road will be completed; and

• Restoration works will continue.

Installation of the base coat of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for the middle of November. While works remain on schedule to be completed by year end, issues associated with a shortage of available construction materials have slowed works on the project.

The major works in Phase Two of this project are expected to be completed by end of 2022, with restoration and Phase Three work resuming in the spring of 2023.

During road building, the contractor will try maintain access to driveways wherever possible. At times, such as when sidewalk is being constructed, this may not be possible. Residents will be notified prior to driveway access disruption, and parking on side streets may be required. Place this notice on dashboards to avoid ticketing during overnight parking.

Please note: Rolling temporary road closures will be necessary in the area to allow for the completion of this project. Detour routes for vehicular traffic will remain in place until the project is completed. Local access for residents, pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained. Signage is in place to ensure safe traffic flow. Please note that road conditions may deteriorate during construction, especially when it rains.

Although crews do their best to maintain the road in good condition for vehicles, there will be bumps and holes to contend with. Please use caution and drive slowly to maintain control of your vehicle and to avoid any potential damage and use detours whenever possible.

Waste and recycling curbside pick-up by Green for Life (GFL) will not be disrupted. Any changes to the pick-up schedule will be communicated to residents in advance. Information on this project will be posted at www.heynewmarket.ca/lorne and by your Construction Liaison Committee representatives.

The Town values your feedback. Contact us at 905-895-5193 to provide your thoughts.
