Lorne Avenue - Construction Corner Update - Week of August 29th, 2022

As a resident of Lorne Avenue, you have been receiving regular notices from the Town of Newmarket regarding the reconstruction project in your area. Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Currently, the Contractor is continuing with road works between Timothy Street and Millard Avenue. North of Millard Avenue, the Contractor is finalizing the service connections between the new watermain and individual homes. The Contractor is also currently finalizing works with the island extension on Queen Street, just west of Lorne Avenue.

The kids are going back to school next week, and the Town is actively working with the project team to make the street as accessible as possible. There will be one sidewalk open at all times, and access will be provided to all residents. We ask that if any issues are noted before and after school drop off, to please let the project team know and they will be addressed immediately.

Over the past two weeks:

• All sanitary sewer work was completed;

• Mainline storm sewer work was completed;

• Watermain was installed from Millard Avenue to Davis Drive, and tested to ensure water quality and pressure standards have been met;

• Road excavation and granular base is underway from Timothy Street to Millard Avenue; and,

• Concrete works and signage on the Queen Street Pedestrian Island Extension was completed.

Over the next two weeks:

• Concrete curb, gutter and sidewalks will be poured from Timothy Street to Millard Avenue;

• Watermain connections are to be completed north of Millard Avenue; and,

• Further cleanup of the area to improve conditions for back to school will be completed.

Phase two of this project is expected to be completed by December of 2022.

Please note: Rolling road closures are necessary in the area to allow for the completion of this project.

Waste and recycling curbside pick-up by Green for Life (GFL) will not be disrupted during construction. If there are any issues with garbage pickup, please contact the Town’s project manager to organize alternate pickup.

Detour routes for bicycles and vehicular traffic will remain in place until the project is completed. Local access for residents, pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained. Signage is in place to ensure safe traffic flow.

Information on this project is being communicated through this Construction Corner, by your Construction Liaison Committee representatives and through the Town’s Hey Newmarket website.

The Town values your feedback on these updates and appreciates your continued patience while we proceed with this project. Please contact us at 905-895-5193 to provide your thoughts.
