Lorne Avenue - Construction Corner Update - Week of July 18th, 2022

As a resident of Lorne Avenue, you have been receiving regular notices from the Town of Newmarket regarding the reconstruction project in your area. Once again, we would like to thank you for your patience and support throughout this time.

The contractor will be continuing with work between Timothy Street and Davis Drive. Road building will start between Timothy Street and Millard Avenue. This work involves digging out the road bed approximately 2-3 feet below the existing surface and replacing the granular material, before re-building curbs and sidewalks and placing asphalt. The same process will be undertaken after underground infrastructure is installed north of Millard Avenue.

Over the past two weeks:

  • Storm sewer mainline was completed from south of Calgain Road intersection to the Millard Avenue intersection.
  • Watermain connections at intersections were completed between Timothy Street and Millard Avenue.
  • Sanitary service connections between Queen Street intersection and south of Calgain Road have been completed.

Over the next two weeks:

  • Road excavation and importation of new granular road materials between Timothy Street and Millard Avenue is scheduled to commence on the week of July 18, 2022.
  • The contractor, Direct Underground, will start installation of the storm sewer mainline between Calgain Road and Davis Drive.
  • New watermain installation will be starting from north of Millard Avenue and will proceed northerly to Davis Drive

Waste and recycling curbside pick-up by Green for Life (GFL) will not be disrupted during construction. Any changes to the pick-up schedule will be communicated to residents in advance. Should there be any issues with garbage collection, please contact the Town or Town’s representatives, and we will contact GFL to make pick-up arrangements.

Please note: Rolling temporary road closures continue in phase two of the project, between Timothy Street and Davis Drive, to allow for the timely completion of this project.

Detour routes for vehicular traffic will remain in place until the project is completed. Local access for residents, pedestrians and emergency vehicles continues to be maintained. Signage is in place to ensure safe traffic flow.

Information on this project is being communicated through this Construction Corner, and by your Construction Liaison Committee representatives.

We value your feedback on these updates. Please contact us at info@newmarket.ca or call 905-895-5193 to provide your thoughts.
