🚧Construction Update – Fall 2025

Work is moving very quickly at Mulock Park, taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather before winter closes in. Crews are pushing hard to be ready for opening of the park. There are tradespeople on-site six days every week, and the weekday on-site workforce is between 90 and 100 workers.

At the Mulock House, the interior structural work is complete, and the atrium and elevator shaft are rising quickly. The veranda columns and railings have all been prepared by the restoration carpenters, and the reconstructed deck is rising up from the first to the second levels. The windows will arrive shortly and will start to be installed, and the accessible ramps are nearly complete at the south side of the building, while the footings for the matching ramps on the north side will be poured in the second week of October. The full house will receive its new coat of white paint over the month of October.

At Mulock Park, there is a major focus on site works before the winter. Permanent top asphalt is being placed for the trails, and the rubber surfacing at the playscape is taking shape. The main electrical power was turned on in September, and the electricians are bringing the panels online at the different buildings. The Greenhouse glass roof is in place, and the shingle cladding is being installed on the Maintenance Building, Skate Pavilion, Conservatory, and Art Studio. Maybe most exciting, the skate trail chiller piping and reinforcement are now fully in place, and the concrete will be placed before the middle of October. The solar array is also fully installed and will be ready to start generating power for the park before the end of the year.

The artists have been busy too, and we are starting to see images of the artworks which are at or nearing completion, and will be ready to install just before the park opens. Staff from our Recreation & Culture and Parks & Property Departments are hard at work planning for the opening, and getting ready to take over the operations, maintenance, and programming of this beautiful landmark park.

Check out some recent progress photos ⬇️

Skate Pavilion 📷 Pictured: In this image, the Skate Pavilion is nearing completion on right. The concrete bench seats are in place, and the piping has been installed for the water feature drains and jets. The next steps in this area will be to place the gravel, insulation, reinforcement, and chiller lines which will allow the summer water feature to convert into a winter time skating rink.

Conservatory Greenhouse 📷 Pictured: The Greenhouse Conservatory is taking shape. Here, you can see the glass roof and mass timber framework. The powered blinds will operate automatically to shade neighbours from night-time light in the greenhouse.
