Neighbour Update – ⛸️Skate trail construction

Work is underway to create the foundation for the skate trail, set to be one of the longest refrigerated skate trails in Ontario.
To protect trees and minimize impact on the natural environment, the path for the winter skate trail/summer multi-use path has been designed to follow a former driveway.
The Park contractors, Matheson Constructors are currently working to place and compact a gravel base. After this, they will be placing and finishing the concrete for the trail.
As with any soil compaction effort, some level of vibration may be expected during daytime hours. The contractor will continue to monitor vibration levels to ensure they remain within allowable levels.
One interesting part of the process is that the concrete for the 340 metre trail will be done in one continuous pour. This work requires meticulous attention and an extended work time to pour, smooth and finish the concrete to create a high quality trail visitors can enjoy for years to come. This will require overnight work on one day, expected in the fall.
