Upcoming Tree Maintenance Work at Mulock Park

As we prepare to open Mulock Park on September 18, the Town will be conducting the final remaining necessary tree maintenance and green space work on the property. This work includes routine tree care to support tree health and public safety, such as pruning, removing hanging branches and invasive species. These measures will help ensure the park is safe and welcoming for visitors when it opens.

As part of this work, some selective tree removals will be required because of tree health or damage caused by the severe windstorm in July. Residents can be assured that only trees deemed necessary for removal will be affected, and all work will be carried out as a continuation of the Mulock Park Tree Stewardship Program into normal park operations. This ecological strategy was developed to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural heritage and tree canopy across the Mulock property.

When the park opens, the Town will have planted 490 new trees on the property, increasing the total number of trees within Mulock Park to approximately 950, which further supports Newmarket’s Urban Forestry Management Plan, designed to protect and grow our tree canopy.

Over the coming weeks, residents can expect to see increased activity in and around the property, including the use of cranes and other equipment to support tree maintenance operations.
