π Where will we park? How will we get there? π π²π£

A key question weβve heard in the community is "where is parking?" Mulock Park will be accessible in many ways, including trails, transit and driving. The Town is committed to limiting parking on-site at Mulock Park to keep the property natural, but also recognizes the park will draw people from across Newmarket and beyond for activities and events.
The parking and arrival strategy includes:
- Mulock Drive Parking Lot: a small lot on Mulock Drive will accommodate an estimated 38 parking spaces, including 3 barrier-free spaces. In addition, two barrier-free parking spaces are available at the Mulock House, as well as a loop that provides pick-up and drop-off options at a central point in the park.
A solar shade located within the Mulock Drive parking lot will offset some of the parkβs electricity use. It has a 50-kilowatt generating capacity β equivalent to all the lighting and domestic (wall) plugs in the Mulock House and buildings.
- Yonge Street Parking Lot: This large lot that will be built on the hydro corridor, and provides an additional 200 parking spaces (including 7 barrier-free spaces), a short distance from the park. This project also provides new connections to existing trails and bike lanes. The lot will be accessible only from Yonge Street and will include provisions for future elements, such as electrical vehicle (EV) chargers and paid parking. It will include bicycle parking, traffic calming measures and a security camera network.
- Shuttles for big events: For special events, the Town may use shuttles to transport people from other facilities, such as Ray Twinney Recreation Complex to Mulock Park. The Mulock Drive lot is designed to facilitate buses for shuttling purposes.
- Walk, bike, transit: Guests can walk, bike or take transit to access the park. York Region Transit (YRT) and Viva stop right at the park's main entrance. The new Yonge Street parking lot includes a walking and biking path which fills in a missing link to the existing Multi-Use Paths connecting Yonge Street with Ray Twinney and areas further north, all making Mulock Park more accessible to local residents.
