Watermain Lining Project: Notice 1 - Feb 06, 2023

The Town of Newmarket has retained an engineering firm, the Ainley Group, to start the detailed design of a watermain lining project in the Newmarket Heights area.

The purpose of the project is to increase the service life of the watermain, replace the fire hydrants, and reconstruct pedestrian crosswalks to meet current accessibility standards. The anticipated construction start date is summer 2023 pending successful tendering and budget approvals. The Town will provide more information on timing as the design process proceeds. As part of this project, Ainley has reviewed the fire hydrant spacing which resulted in shifting some fire hydrants to new locations in order to conform to the Town’s current engineering design standards.

How to get involved:

The Town will be hosting a Virtual Public Information Centre (VPIC) with residents in the community to discuss the entire project and to answer any questions that you may have. The tentative date for this VPIC is May 2023 and you will receive an invitation to participate in the meeting a few weeks ahead of time.
