Construction Commencement Notice: Northwest Quadrant Trail Phase 5 Phase 1 - Tree Removals

The Town of Newmarket is proceeding with the construction of the new asphalt trail through the forest from Clifford Perry Place to Art West Avenue to the existing Dave Kerwin Trail.

The project consists of two phases which includes tree cutting/removal and construction of the trail. The first phase is scheduled to begin on March 13, 2023 with tree removal being completed by March 31, 2023. During this time, residents may see trees falling as part of the removal process. Phase 1 work including cutting, cleanup and removal/disposal off site is expected to be completed by end of May 2023.

Phase 2 construction is expected to begin in June/July 2023 with an anticipated completion by summer 2024 and opening in fall 2024, subject to successful tender award, weather, and site conditions.

The safety of all residents, staff, and workers is of the utmost importance. Please do not enter the construction area and keep a safe distance away from the tree falling operation. It is requested that you refrain from approaching/conversing with the contractor and/or staff as the tree removal process is a dangerous operation that requires all workers’ full attention. During the tree removal phase, chainsaws and other loud tree removal equipment will be used daily. Between March 13 and March 31, tree removal operation will take place from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. After March 31, any cutting/removal work should only occur Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and possibly on Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We apologize for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience while we complete this exciting trail project that will provide a safe and more direct route to the Environmental Park for residents living on or near Clifford Perry Place and Art West Avenue.
