Penn Avenue East Reconstruction Project
The Town of Newmarket is reconstructing Penn Avenue East.
The Penn Avenue East Reconstruction project focuses on improving drainage through the addition of a stormwater system, along with the renewal of the existing watermain.
Construction is expected to start August 8, 2026.
The Town of Newmarket’s contractor, Wyndale Paving Co. Ltd., will be completing an overnight storm sewer connection on Main Street North at Penn Avenue East. To complete this work safely, Main Street North will be fully closed at Penn Avenue East during the following times:
• Monday, September 28, 2026: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Tuesday)
• Tuesday, September 29, 2026: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Wednesday)
Main Street North will be fully reopened by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
What to expect
• Local traffic only. Please follow the detour on the reverse side of this notice. Detour signage will be posted.
• Emergency services will be notified and emergency access will be maintained.
• Residents and businesses near the work zone can expect construction noise, equipment and work lighting overnight.
• Please obey all signage and traffic control personnel in the area.
Work is weather dependent. If the work is postponed, the closure will be rescheduled.
