Playground Improvements for 2026

The Town of Newmarket has identified opportunities in 2026 to provide playground structure and park improvements to various park(s) in Newmarket.

This work is being done as part of the Town’s commitment to provide our residents with beautiful, enjoyable, and safe parklands for everyone to enjoy.

Playground Improvement for Fernbank Park
Location: Fernbank Road
Closed as of June 15, 2026. Reopened on July 31, 2026.

Some features of this playground include:

• Play structure for users 18 months – 12 years old
• Accessible elevated platforms by transfer station access
• Accessible deck to deck crossing with our Hula Climber (AODA compliant)
• Multiple slides at various deck heights.
• Unique Climbing opportunities
• Well shaded platforms
• Arch Swings with tot swing and inclusive swing

Playground Improvement Best Family Park
Location: Best Circle
Closing as of June, 22, 2026. Reopened on July 31, 2026.

Some features of this playground include:

• Multiple Slides at various deck heights.
• Accessible elevated platforms, accessible by transfer station access
• Arch swings and Solo Spinners and Spin Rocker
• Balancing opportunities for both age groups on our Culvert Steppers
• The Sr. Structure includes several unique climbing features including the Treehouse Vertical Pod and Fan Climber
• Select trees have been identified for removal due to their declining health. Replacement trees will be replanted to support the long-term health of surrounding mature trees.

Playground Improvement for Laurelwood Parkette
Location: Shadrach Drive
Closed as of June 29, 2026. Reopened on July 31, 2026.

• Play structure with age appropriateness for users 18 months to 12 years old.
• AODA compliant deck to deck crossing
• Multiple Slides at various deck heights
• Overhead opportunity with our Horizontal Try-Rings Challenge
• Rope climbing, and bongo perch for balancing
• The Play Structure includes unique climbing features
• Arch Swings, with tot swing and inclusive swing
