The Town of Newmarket has identified opportunities in the Fall 2024 to provide playground structure and park improvements at various parks around Town 

As part of the Town’s commitment to provide our residents with beautiful, enjoyable, and safe parklands, we hope everyone has an opportunity to experience the new and accessible playground features this fall and beyond.

See below for the parks that are undergoing improvements in Newmarket.

Paul Semple Park (Small Structure)
Location: Savage Road

  • In partnership with York Region School Board, the small structure (between the big structure and swing bay) at Paul Semple Park is being replaced with a similar design, but slightly larger with fresh new components including talk tubes, play panels, spinners. step stones, climber and more.
  • This structure is suitable for ages 5-12. 
  • Opening Date: Friday, August 30, 2024

Fairy Lake Park (Rope Climber) 
Location: Cane Parkway 


  • The rope climber at Fairy Lake Park will be replaced with a new design and elevated play activities that will be accessible by transfers and ramps, ground level activities and lots of imaginative play opportunities
  • The rope climber will be closed on September 30 and reopened by October 11 (weather dependent). The other playground elements will remain open. 
  • The new rope climber will be suitable for ages 5-12

Woodland Hills Labyrinth Park (Toth Park)
Location: Tango Crescent 


  • The playground at the Woodland Hills Labyrinth Park (Toth Park) will be entirely replaced with:
    • Four unique areas for explorative play such as a swing bay, treehouse, rock challenge wall and elevated climbers.
    • This playground will be closed for removal by September 30 and reopened on October 25 (weather dependent).

This park is a destination for many to enjoy the space and beautiful walk in the forest but the park is very small and often over crowded.     Thank you for your inquiry, Town parks are replaced on a 14 year schedule, the playground at Environmental park was recplaced within the past 6 years so it is not schedule for replacement within the next couple years.

    The town made the switch from sand to wood chips in parks as the wood chips meet the AODA requirement for accessibiltiy for children.
