The Town of Newmarket will be undertaking sediment removal and various maintenance from two stormwater management ponds this year (Ponds 30 and 214). Sediment removal is critical to maintain effective stormwater control and preserving the overall health of aquatic ecosystems.

The project has been awarded to Buildscapes Construction Limited and is expected to begin during the week of August 31, 2026, and continue until November 2026.

This pond cleanout project is focused on removal of accumulated sediment in the storm ponds and includes comprehensive restoration and revitalization of the Wet Ponds.

As with all construction works, residents may experience dust, noise, odour and truck traffic. The Town, and its contractor will do their best to limit these inconveniences as much as possible.

What to Expect

  • Typical work hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Some work may occur on weekends, depending on construction requirements.
  • As with all construction works, residents may experience dust, noise, odour and truck traffic.

Town and Buildscapes Construction Limited will do their best to limit these inconveniences as much as possible.

    The clean-out work at Pond Pond 69 – Sydor Court Wetland Pond, and Pond 98 – Bogartown Curve West Pond is ongoing. Due to fall weather conditions and higher than anticipated sediment removal, the project has been impacted by a slight schedule shift of a few weeks. Crews are working diligently to get back on schedule and appreciate your understanding as we complete important maintenance.
