Project Notice #10 - Confirmed Bridge Closure Date of March 17

The Town of Newmarket is confirming that the full road and bridge closure for the Queen Street Bridge over the Metrolinx Tracks will begin on March 17, 2025. The bridge and road closure will be in effect until the expected completion of the project of December 2025.

What to Expect

  • Full road and bridge closure on Queen Street starting March 17th, 2025.
  • No vehicles or pedestrian will be permitted across the bridge.
  • Access to businesses and residences will remain open:
  • West of the bridge: Access via Main Street South.
  • East of the bridge: Access via Prospect Street.
  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
  • Tom Taylor Trail will remain open throughout the project.
  • Digital signage and detour maps will be in-place to guide traffic.
  • Construction Impacts
  • Typical work hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Some work will occur on weekends and overnight, as required by Metrolinx’s regulations.
  • Noise, dust, and minor vibrations may occur; monitoring measures will be in place.
  • Advance notice will be provided for any temporary driveway access restrictions.
