Project Notice #14 - Overnight Work July 16/17

Dear Resident and Business Owner,

This letter is to notify you of upcoming overnight work related to the Queen Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project planned for the nights of July 16 and July 17, 2025.

This overnight work will involve the installation of bridge girders directly above the Metrolinx tracks. As a result of this work, the Town of Newmarket is anticipating minor noise disruptions for nearby residents and businesses. Due to active rail operations, Metrolinx has mandated this work over the tracks be conducted outside of regular train service hours to ensure safety for workers, the public, and transit operations.

The Town of Newmarket is exempt from the noise bylaw for infrastructure projects; however, we recognize the importance of reducing the impact to residents and will work with the contractor to minimize the impact as much as possible.

In case of delays due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, a contingency window has been set for the night of July 18, 2025. More information will be provided to residents should this occur.

The Town of Newmarket thanks all residents and businesses for their continued support throughout this important infrastructure project. Once the bridge is complete, it will improve safety and accessibility for all users, align with Metrolinx’s planned expansion and electrification of the railway, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
