Project Notice #15

Dear Resident and/or Business Owner,

The Town of Newmarket is pleased to share that the Queen Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project is progressing well. Major structural components, including the installation of bridge girders, have been completed, and the upcoming concrete deck pour marks a significant milestone toward project completion.

This letter is to notify you of upcoming overnight work scheduled for the night of August 22 into August 23, 2025. This work will involve pouring the new concrete bridge deck.

Due to active rail operations, Metrolinx requires that work taking place over the tracks be completed outside of regular train service hours to ensure the safety of workers, the public, and transit operations. As a result, some minor noise disruptions may be experienced by nearby residents and businesses during this time.

If work is unable to proceed this night, a contingency date of August 29 night going into August 30 is planned. A further update will be provided if these dates change.

While the Town of Newmarket is exempt from the noise bylaw for municipal infrastructure projects, we remain committed to minimizing impacts wherever possible and will work closely with our contractors to limit disruption.

The Town thanks all residents and businesses for their patience and support throughout this important project. Once complete, the bridge will improve safety and accessibility for all users, support Metrolinx’s planned rail expansion and electrification, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
