The Town of Newmarket has installed in-ground waste bins as part of a pilot project in the Market Square parking area in downtown Newmarket.
These new bins will help improve waste collection and maintain a clean public space.
As part of this pilot program, the in-ground waste bins will be accessible for registered users beginning September 8, 2025.
If your property is located within the Market Square area, you may be eligible to use the in-ground garbage, recycling, and organics (food waste) bins. Please email wasteinfo@newmarket.ca to request an application form.

Background Information
In-ground waste containers are being piloted in the downtown area to help address waste management challenges, reduce odours and pests, and increase waste capacity. These durable, locked containers are partially buried underground, with only a portion visible above the surface. Approved properties that have registered for access will be able to use either a key fob or mobile app to access the containers.
