Consultation has concluded
The Lorne Avenue Traffic-Calming Demonstration project incorporates various techniques to lower traffic speeds.
The work on Lorne Avenue will include:
Replacement of the watermain and water services to the property line;
Replacement of sanitary sewers and sanitary services to the property line;
Replacement of storm sewers and catch basins, with implementation of some Low Impact Development (LID) features to help adapt to a changing climate;
Road narrowing, speed mitigation measures, automated speed and volume measurement devices, bike lanes and street furniture to provide a “complete street” design; and
New Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant sidewalks and associated road features.
Construction work on Lorne Avenue started in August 2021, and the majority of Phase 1, between Eagle and Timothy was completed by December 2021. In 2022, construction crews have been working on completing the remainder of the street w
Construction is currently on schedule, with the majority of construction work, including underground sewers, curb, sidewalks and the first coat of asphalt throughout the project completed for 2022.
As of May 8, 2023, phase 3 of the project will begin which includes final restoration, including the topcoat of the asphalt.
The Town will be regularly providing updates on this website, which are also provided by hand delivery to residents in the construction area. Those notices are summarized below.
