🚧 Construction Update: January

While the ground may be frozen, the construction crews at Mulock Park are full steam ahead!
Here’s what’s happening on the site:
Fencing has gone up to separate the Mulock Park and Mulock House construction sites, maintaining secure separate construction work areas.
Block walls are going up on the Skate Pavillion, Maintenance Building and the Conservatory Greenhouse. With the walls up, they can start roofing and then work inside the buildings.
The geothermal wellfield is ready to be connected to the house
Temporary soil stockpiles continue to be relocated on-site as required.
On the Yonge Street Parking Lot, base gravel and electrical ducts have been installed.
Coming up:
Framing the new artist’s studio in place of the former stable. In 2024 the crew conducted careful, selective removals to preserve key elements of the stable for reuse in the new, creative space.
Interior work on the new buildings, such as insulation, waterproofing, mechanical and electrical installation.
Lights will be installed on the Yonge Street Parking Lot over the winter, but will not be operational until connected in the Spring.
Excavation will start shortly for the new Entry Bridge which will provide a pedestrian entry point to the park from the corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive.
On the historic Mulock House, foundation work will start shortly, and the veranda reconstruction is expected to start in March (learn more about his project here)
‘Frost fighter’ heaters are required to run throughout the winter to protect the buildings while they are constructed. Town staff will continue working with the contractors to minimize the noise produced by generators to run the heaters.
Meanwhile, in the shop, the playscape builders have been growing some whimsical pieces for the Natural Discovery Playscape – here's a sneak peek!
