Why are we undertaking a Residential Parking Study?

The Residential Parking Study builds on the parking study completed in 2016 for the Town’s Urban Centres Secondary Plan. The Residential Parking Study will address gaps within the existing mobility system in residential areas outside of the Urban Centres Secondary Plan while also preparing for the mobility system of the future. The study will provide a review of the Town’s existing residential parking standards and will focus on parking standards within these areas.

    What communities are being studied?

In general, parking solutions for residential communities outside of the Yonge Street and Davis Drive corridors will be considered in this study. Please see the study area map on the project webpage for more information.

What could the recommendations or outcome of this project look like in our community?

The recommendations of this project may lead to changes in how parking will be planned and managed within residential areas. This can include optimizing curbside parking, implementing parking management strategies, and more. The goal is to create a more efficient parking system that meets the evolving needs within the Town’s residential areas.

Who is working with the Town on this study?

The Town has retained WSP Canada as the prime consultant on the study.
