In a climate crisis, protected lands must stay protected!

At its most basic, there was a reason former Mayor Tom Taylor and Council voted to protect the lands in question within the Official Plan back in 2003. And that need has only grown exponentially.

We are in a global climate crisis, and we are seeing first-hand what that looks like. Daily we are inundated with the sheer volume and size of wildfires, with severe droughts and floods, and with the extreme temperatures. Climate change is here and now.

And it requires an immediate transformation from the business as usual mindset in order to stave off the worst of it. All levels of government need to view any and all decisions with a climate lens framework. And keeping natural environments intact must be made a priority.

We cannot lose critical ecosystems to development anymore.
