Clifford Perry Neighbourhood Updates

We have a few updates to share with the community regarding the Environmental Park Boardwalk and parking.

Environmental Park Boardwalk

• The Environmental Park Boardwalk is set to open on Friday, April 10 in the afternoon. This opening will not be promoted by the Town of Newmarket.v
• Like last season, signage will be installed to direct trail users to enter the boardwalk from Environmental Park on Woodspring Avenue.
• The Town will be placing additional garbage bins to reduce litter, as well as portable toilets for public use.
• The Town will continue to monitor boardwalk usage and deploy Trail Ambassadors, as needed, to encourage safety and etiquette and to help ensure everyone has a positive park and trail experience.

Parking

• A parking permit pilot program along Clifford Perry Place, east of Elvidge Trail, will begin on April 7 with warnings and will be subject to enforcement (fines) as of Friday, April 10, coinciding with the opening of the boardwalk.
• Parking permit signage has been installed to indicate that parking is by permit only on applicable streets.
• Permits for eligible households have been provided.
• The overflow parking agreement with Alexander Muir Public School will begin on April 11 which will allow members of the public to park at the school parking lot on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays.

Environmental Park Boardwalk The Environmental Park Boardwalk is set to reopen to the public in early April after the Easter long weekend (weather dependent). To help manage visitor activity in your neighbourhood, the Town will be implementing the following measures to support a more enjoyable experience for everyone:

• Continued education to the public that the primary entrance to the boardwalk is located at Environmental Park on Woodspring Avenue.
• Installation of signage on Woodspring Avenue directing people to park in the available parking lots in the area.
• The Environmental Park parking lot will be expanded with construction expected to start Fall 2026.
• Extension of the agreement to allow members of the public to park on Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays at Alexander Muir Public School.
• Deployment of Trail Ambassadors to encourage safety, etiquette and to help ensure everyone has a positive park and trail experience, as needed.
• Re-installation of garbage bins to reduce litter, as well as portable toilets for public use.
• Continued monitoring of boardwalk use

Parking

To assist with the neighbourhood’s parking concerns, the Town will introduce a pilot parking permit program starting in April 2026 for homes along Clifford Perry Place on the east side of Elvidge Trail. On-street parking will not be permitted without a parking permit. Homes in the area will be provided with two on-street parking permit tags.

Signage will be installed indicating that on street parking is by permit only 7 days a week. More information will be provided to eligible homes in the area in the coming weeks.

Signs will again be installed on Clifford Perry Place, near Bathurst Street and on Woodspring Avenue to direct trail users to park in the designated parking lots (Environmental Park and on weekends/holidays at Alexander Muir Public School).

By-law enforcement patrols will focus on weekends and may be adjusted as the Town continues to monitor the area.

Elvidge Trail Parkette

The Newmarket Parks and Recreation Capital Plan approved a small parkette along Elvidge Trail. A public meeting took place in November 2025 and the feedback gathered from the meeting is now being reviewed. Further engagement with the community will occur in late 2026, early 2027.
