What is a Digital Transformation Strategy?

Digital transformation is a rethinking of how we use digital approaches to achieve our goals. But digital transformation isn’t only about new technology or software, it also considers our staff, the processes they follow every day to do their jobs, and how they interact with residents. By doing this, digital transformation looks at the entire view of the Town to look for opportunities for change.

Why did the Town create a digital transformation strategy?

In 2019, the Town of Newmarket undertook a review to identify different opportunities to improve revenue, build efficiencies, and create value adds (the REV it Up Review). A key finding of this review was that there is a significant opportunity for the Town to make improvements through greater digital enablement. To achieve this, the Town decided to develop a digital transformation strategy that would act as a guide for change. The DTS is fully funded by the Province of Ontario's Audit and Accountability Fund.
