    Over the past two weeks:

    • Testing of the new watermain will take place on Monday October 4, 2021.

    • Once testing is completed, the contractor will begin installation of new water services. There will be some disruption to water supply during this phase of the project - advance notification will be provided to any and all affected residents prior to any disruptions.

    Thank you to all resident ambassadors for helping to keep the residents and neighbours informed and up to date on the current construction happening on your street. As a resident of Lorne Ave. and vicinity, you will be receiving regular ‘Construction Corner’ notices from the Town of Newmarket to keep you updated on the reconstruction and speed mitigation project in your area. In 2021, construction will be focused between Eagle St. and Timothy St.

    Over the past two weeks:

    • Enbridge has completed gas main replacement crossing at Botsford Street;

    • Two trees were removed– there are currently no plans to remove any additional trees within the Phase 1 area;

    • Protection of other trees with fencing is ongoing; and,

    • Construction layout and utility locates have been completed - residents are reminded that the stakes, flags, etc. that are in the ground are markers that are extremely important for the Contractor. Please avoid removing them for lawn maintenance or any other reason.

    Over the next two weeks:

    • Sediment control fencing will be installed just north of Avenue Road to prevent silt from the construction site from entering the watercourse;

    • Fencing will be setup along the school property to provide a clear barrier between the school property and construction activity;

    • Construction of underground watermain, storm and sanitary sewers between Timothy and Eagle Street will commence - lane restrictions can be expected to facilitate this work;

    • Where possible, it is advisable that residents that live in the area take alternate routes and avoid the construction zone. The Contractor will be directing traffic through the area, but delays are to be expected;

    • There will be construction vibration once work commences. The Town will have vibration monitoring devices set up on the site. If, at any time, the vibration exceeds threshold limits, an alarm is triggered and actions will be taken to reduce the activities causing the vibration; and,

    • Some dust will be present during construction – every effort will be made to control dust with application of appropriate dust suppression when required.
