The Town of Newmarket and York Region is building a multi-use path (MUP) along Mulock Drive that will run from Bathurst Street to Harry Walker Parkway. This east-west path will be designed to allow for a wide-range of recreational uses such as cycling, walking, jogging and wheelchair access. The goal for the Mulock Drive MUP is to allow the community to connect to key destinations in Town such as the future Mulock GO Station, existing trails, schools and the future Mulock Property. View the flyover view below to see the proposed trajectory of the future MUP.
The Mulock MUP project will have a three-meter-wide trail, where feasible, in the boulevard of Mulock Drive from Bathurst Street to Harry Walker Parkway and is expected to be completed in two phases. See below for more information on the construction phase. The project is being jointly funded by the Town of Newmarket and Region of York through development charges.
Phase 1: Bathurst Street to Yonge Street (Starting the week of May 8 Expected completion: End of Fall 2023 subject to weather and site conditions)
A new asphalt multi-use path will be constructed in place of the concrete sidewalk along the south side of Mulock Drive from Bathurst Street to Doubletree Lane and along the north side of Mulock Drive from Doubletree Lane to Yonge Street.
Work includes concrete and asphalt removal, installation of new asphalt and concrete paths, grading, planting, guardrail adjustments, sign relocations, and sodding.
During construction, a lane shift will occur to accommodate the work and to ensure minimal disruption to traffic. Please follow the signs posted from Yonge Street to Doubletree Lane.
The sidewalk on the north side of Mulock Drive from Yonge Street to Doubletree Lane will also be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the first phase of construction.
We apologize for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience while we complete this exciting MUP project that will improve our active transportation network and provide a safe direct route to the future Mulock Park.

As of August 19, 2024. the Mulock Multi-Use Path between Yonge Street and Doubletree Lane is closed through to late fall (November). The closure is necessary to ensure public safety while we construct the driveway and parking lot for the new Mulock Park. Travellers can use the sidewalk on the south side of Mulock Drive (across the road). For your safety, please cross the street at the intersections (Yonge Street and Doubletree Lane/Columbus Way).
Thank you for your patience while we build this spectacular new park!
