Mulock Park News and Updates
Imagine… a 16-acre green oasis set under a gorgeous tree canopy in the heart of urban Newmarket at the corner of Mulock Drive and Yonge Street. The future park on the former Mulock Property embraces the site’s natural beauty, enhanced with space for active exploration, peaceful retreat, and an opportunity to inspire and be inspired by the arts.
From 2019 to 2021, the Town of Newmarket, engaged over 3,000+ people to share their ideas and visions for the property which has helped develop our five guiding principals, three concept themes and the final design concept. Newmarket looks forward to bringing the community’s vision to life. To create a place where community, life, recreation, culture, heritage and conservation collide in innovative and engaging ways.

The house should be preserved as a museum piece. It has a ground floor with great acoustics.

We are so excited about the Mulock Property! Preserve history of the property. There needs to be a gallery showcasing the history of the Mulock family, the Estate and their contribution to Nmkt. A wedding venue would be beautiful and would get used. A dinner hall/theatre venue would also be amazing. Everyday park/playground would be amazing A water/skating feature would be amazing. Soccer fields would also be nice. Must preserve the trees. What is going to happen to the pool on the property? Could this be another outdoor pool for the town? The Gorham outdoor pool is very crowded.

Preservation
With so much construction and lack of preservation within the community we need to focus on this. If the home is used as a museum great idea and focus, but would love to see the land and trees preserves and nothing touched. The back area where the pool is could be filled and turned into a small parking lot area for visitors.

Over the past year, thousands of community members have shared their vision and how they’d like to experience the future of the Mulock Property.
The community’s ideas and technical research by our expert team have helped to shape and inspire three design concepts which PLANT Architect Inc. will reveal to Council and the public.
Between September 29 to October 12 you can explore and provide feedback on the thematic concepts of:
- Energized
- Peaceful
- Expressive
Your feedback will help our consultant team create one refined concept that takes the preferred elements from all three themes to create a consolidated design, and finally, one Master Plan. Help us create a master plan that balances our past history and heritage with our very bright future.
