🚧Construction Update – Fall 2025
Share 🚧Construction Update – Fall 2025 on Facebook Share 🚧Construction Update – Fall 2025 on Twitter Share 🚧Construction Update – Fall 2025 on Linkedin Email 🚧Construction Update – Fall 2025 linkWork is moving very quickly at Mulock Park, taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather before winter closes in. Crews are pushing hard to be ready for opening of the park. There are tradespeople on-site six days every week, and the weekday on-site workforce is between 90 and 100 workers.
At the Mulock House, the interior structural work is complete, and the atrium and elevator shaft are rising quickly. The veranda columns and railings have all been prepared by the restoration carpenters, and the reconstructed deck is rising up from the first to the second levels. The windows will arrive shortly and will start to be installed, and the accessible ramps are nearly complete at the south side of the building, while the footings for the matching ramps on the north side will be poured in the second week of October. The full house will receive its new coat of white paint over the month of October.
At Mulock Park, there is a major focus on site works before the winter. Permanent top asphalt is being placed for the trails, and the rubber surfacing at the playscape is taking shape. The main electrical power was turned on in September, and the electricians are bringing the panels online at the different buildings. The Greenhouse glass roof is in place, and the shingle cladding is being installed on the Maintenance Building, Skate Pavilion, Conservatory, and Art Studio. Maybe most exciting, the skate trail chiller piping and reinforcement are now fully in place, and the concrete will be placed before the middle of October. The solar array is also fully installed and will be ready to start generating power for the park before the end of the year.
The artists have been busy too, and we are starting to see images of the artworks which are at or nearing completion, and will be ready to install just before the park opens. Staff from our Recreation & Culture and Parks & Property Departments are hard at work planning for the opening, and getting ready to take over the operations, maintenance, and programming of this beautiful landmark park.
Check out some recent progress photos ⬇️
Skate Pavilion 📷 Pictured: In this image, the Skate Pavilion is nearing completion on right. The concrete bench seats are in place, and the piping has been installed for the water feature drains and jets. The next steps in this area will be to place the gravel, insulation, reinforcement, and chiller lines which will allow the summer water feature to convert into a winter time skating rink.
Conservatory Greenhouse 📷 Pictured: The Greenhouse Conservatory is taking shape. Here, you can see the glass roof and mass timber framework. The powered blinds will operate automatically to shade neighbours from night-time light in the greenhouse.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Construction of Mulock Park is advancing rapidly. Night time work will be required this week on the skate trail.Concrete placement for the skate trail will start at 5 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, October 16, 2025. Concrete placement will be complete by afternoon, with finishing touches continuing into the early morning of Friday October 10, 2025.
During concrete placement, neighbours can expect to see concrete delivery trucks and work lights and may hear construction equipment noise. This work must be completed in a single pour to provide a smooth surface, and requires approximately 32 hours from start of placement. Town of Newmarket staff have worked with the contractor to complete as much work as possible during daytime hours, and appreciate residents’ patience.

Neighbour Update – ⛸️Skate trail construction
Share Neighbour Update – ⛸️Skate trail construction on Facebook Share Neighbour Update – ⛸️Skate trail construction on Twitter Share Neighbour Update – ⛸️Skate trail construction on Linkedin Email Neighbour Update – ⛸️Skate trail construction linkWork is underway to create the foundation for the skate trail, set to be one of the longest refrigerated skate trails in Ontario.
To protect trees and minimize impact on the natural environment, the path for the winter skate trail/summer multi-use path has been designed to follow a former driveway.
The Park contractors, Matheson Constructors are currently working to place and compact a gravel base. After this, they will be placing and finishing the concrete for the trail.
As with any soil compaction effort, some level of vibration may be expected during daytime hours. The contractor will continue to monitor vibration levels to ensure they remain within allowable levels.
One interesting part of the process is that the concrete for the 340 metre trail will be done in one continuous pour. This work requires meticulous attention and an extended work time to pour, smooth and finish the concrete to create a high quality trail visitors can enjoy for years to come. This will require overnight work on one day, expected in the fall.

🚧 Construction Update: June 2025
Share 🚧 Construction Update: June 2025 on Facebook Share 🚧 Construction Update: June 2025 on Twitter Share 🚧 Construction Update: June 2025 on Linkedin Email 🚧 Construction Update: June 2025 linkConstruction activity at Mulock Park was at an all-time high this spring with up to 120 construction workers on site daily, keeping the complex construction project on track.
Here’s what’s happening on site:
- Residents are excited to see the Natural Discovery Playscape at the corner of Jordanray Blvd starting to take shape and are curious about what’s to come (check out the artist’s rendering). The large tunnel is based on a fallen log and includes a climbing wall, nets, and beads on tracks. The log jumble is a climber that encourages kids to climb and swing. The hand pump and log flume are in place in the water and sand play area. The concrete footings are visible but will be covered with CSA-certified soft play surfaces to meet safety standards. Next steps will be to place the soft surfaces under all of the equipment, soft rubber paths, and mulch. The playground will not be accessible until the park opens, due to the active construction in the area.
- Landscaping has begun! You may have noticed trees, grass and plantings popping up along the Mulock Drive parking lot. To date we’ve planted thousands of native plants across the park, many within the tree protection zones.
- One of the site’s hidden showstoppers is the craftsmanship on the trellis connecting the two skate pavilion buildings. This forty-foot-wide timber trellis forms a dramatic curve and offers a subtle, natural aesthetic for the water feature and skate trail.
-
Now complete – the parking lot north of the park on Yonge Street is now complete and will temporarily serve as parking space for contractors working on the park.
- Structural, electrical, and mechanical work at the Conservatory Greenhouse and Artist Studio, and installation of interior finishes.
-
Mulock House– Restoration work is full steam ahead and some key milestones have been reached inside the house.
- The basement “underpinning” is complete meaning there is now enough headroom across the basement which will include washrooms, event room spaces, storage and a service kitchen.
- Reinforcement of the building structure for the new public use is advancing.
- Exterior foundation repairs are underway and we’re making the preparations for adding a new elevator and ramps to make the home accessible.
- Mechanical work is underway in the attic and all levels.
- White exterior paint has been meticulously removed and will be restored with a new mineral silicate paint to maintain the historical character with a modern, durable white coating (read more here)
Coming up:
- The concrete for the 340 metre winding skate trail will soon be poured. This will be complete in one continuous pour – a very cool construction technique – that requires many hours of focused work that will result in a smooth surface for walkers and skaters.
- The entry bridge at the corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive will start to become more visible as we build up the bridge. Currently we’re working on the underground elements, like a retaining wall and pump house, to create the future trickling brook.
- Adding glass to the Conservatory Greenhouse to complete the exterior.
- Continuing to plant native species throughout the park.
For a bird’s eye view of the construction progress, check out this video which captures the work up to Spring 2025.

Mulock House: Restoring historic white exterior
Share Mulock House: Restoring historic white exterior on Facebook Share Mulock House: Restoring historic white exterior on Twitter Share Mulock House: Restoring historic white exterior on Linkedin Email Mulock House: Restoring historic white exterior linkAs part of the Mulock House restoration efforts, the exterior paint will be removed and replaced with a modern, durable white coating. This significant step in the restoration process will refresh the historic white appearance of the beloved Mulock House.
Clifford Restoration Limited has begun the meticulous process of stripping the existing paint from the exterior of Mulock House. This paint, believed to have first been applied over a hundred years ago, has reached the end of its service life and requires replacement. The Heritage Impact Assessment emphasizes the importance of maintaining the white painted exterior brick and stone with green accents that residents know and love.
Restoration Techniques: The existing paint layers, which are delaminating and causing damage to the brick surface, will be carefully removed. This process will expose the original brick and prepare it for the new coating. The new mineral silicate paint will restore the house to its historic white color.
The new coating will be a high-quality, mineral-based breathable paint specifically designed for masonry surfaces. This type of paint allows moisture to escape from the brick while preventing water from penetrating, which helps preserve the structural integrity of the house. In addition to offering long-lasting protection against weathering, UV exposure, and environmental wear, it will enhance and maintain the timeless, elegant aesthetic of the house for many years to come.
Check out the ‘past’ photo gallery to take a journey through the generations and renovations.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bring the vision for Mulock Park to life!

🚧 Construction Update: Spring 2025
Share 🚧 Construction Update: Spring 2025 on Facebook Share 🚧 Construction Update: Spring 2025 on Twitter Share 🚧 Construction Update: Spring 2025 on Linkedin Email 🚧 Construction Update: Spring 2025 linkAs the weather gets warmer, construction at Mulock Park is heating up! This spring and summer the community will see big changes on the property as we gear up to open in 2026.
Here’s what’s happening on the site:
Utility and underground servicing is complete, except for connections.
Installation of landscaping and culverts to help move water across the site.
Continuing to create the outbuildings including a Maintenance Building near Osler Court, the Conservatory Greenhouse and Art Studio. Underground, we’re working on the pump house at the entry bridge at the corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive.
We’ll be working on the exterior cladding, roof and interior of the Art Studio which has been created from the former stable.
Completing the Skate Pavillion, including the trellis to connect the two buildings, and the cedar shake siding.
The underground piping for the skate trail is installed and we are constructing the concrete skating/walking surface.
On Mulock House, we’ve removed the verandah which will later be recreated in the same look and feel (read more here). We’ve been working to deepen the foundation to allow for ample head room in the basement which will house washrooms, a secret historic room and storage. Structural work is underway to strengthen the once private home to accommodate the extra people we expect will tour the house and gallery.
Coming up:
Installation of the Natural Discovery Playscape near the Jordanray Blvd. entrance.
Heavy landscape work throughout the spring to fall. This includes concrete work for future furniture, like benches; walkways and developing trails through the park, transplanting trees and some initial large plantings.
Completion of the Yonge Street Parking Lot is expected in June 2025.
The project team visited the Home & Lifestyle Show in early April and had an opportunity to chat with many residents about the amazing park that the Town is creating. There was lots of excitement in the community. We thank everyone, particularly the neighbourhood, for your continued patience and support as we create a park that will serve generations to come.
For a bird’s eye view of the construction progress, check out this video which captures the work up to March 2025.
